#SPORT final meeting in Sofia

The Bulgarian Sports Development Association (BSDA) and its Turkish partner Kargenc Club are holding the final international meeting of the Erasmus+ Sport project #SPORT – Strengthening Potentials through Opportunities, Respect, and Team-spirit in Sofia, Bulgaria. The two-day meeting provides an opportunity to review project achievements, evaluate the results of international cooperation and discuss the sustainability of activities promoting social inclusion through sport.

The #SPORT project brings together organisations from Bulgaria and Türkiye with a shared commitment to creating more opportunities for young people with and without intellectual disabilities to participate in inclusive sporting and educational activities. Through practical experiences, international exchanges and capacity-building initiatives, the project promotes equal opportunities, mutual respect, teamwork and the development of social and personal skills.

An important component of #SPORT has been the implementation of local training activities and international sports camps in both partner countries. These activities have created opportunities for participants to engage in sport together, develop friendships, experience different cultural environments and strengthen their confidence and teamwork skills. At the same time, the project has supported coaches, volunteers and other professionals in developing more inclusive approaches to sport and physical activity.

During the final meeting, the partners are reviewing the implementation of these activities, discussing participants’ feedback, identifying lessons learned and assessing the project’s contribution to inclusive sport. Particular attention is being given to the #SPORT Handbook, which brings together practical resources and approaches developed through the project to support future activities with young people of different abilities.

The meeting programme also includes discussions on communication and dissemination results, financial and administrative reporting, the final evaluation of project activities and the continued use of the educational resources developed. The partners are exploring opportunities to build on the experience gained and maintain their cooperation beyond the project’s implementation period.

The meeting takes place on 31 October and 1 November 2026, with the main working sessions hosted at the BSDA office in Sofia on 31 October. By combining education through sport, international cooperation and practical inclusive activities, #SPORT demonstrates how shared sporting experiences can strengthen participation, respect and understanding among young people, while supporting the organisations and professionals working to make sport more accessible to everyone.

#SPORT – Strengthening Potentials through Opportunities, Respect, and Team-spirit (101183064) is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
